Spent 55 Years of His Life in Norfolk

On Tuesday July 29, John O'Connor died at his late home near LaSalette at the advanced age of 79 years, one month and five days. Deceased had lived in Norfolk more than half a century and had always been an estimable citizen. He leaves to mourn a host of true friends, many of whom have esteemed and respected him since their childhood.

Mr. O'Connor was born in Kerry county, near the Lakes of Kilarney, Ireland, in 1831, and came to Canada when fifteen years of age. He spent the first ten years of his life in Canada on a farm north of Toronto. Fifty-five years ago he moved into Norfolk county, locating at Fern Lee, near Courtland, where he resided for fifty years. He then moved to his late home near LaSalette, where he passed the remaining five years of a long and useful life.

In 18[6]1 he married Miss Alice [Purtilt] of LaSalette. To them were born a family, of whom five daughters and one son survive.

Until about four years ago deceased enjoyed good health. He was a member of the R. C. church, LaSalette. In politics he was a Conservative. -- Delhi Reporter.
