Death of Sam. North

A copy of the Omaha (Neb.) Bee, forwarded to Simcoe, has brought word of the death of one more former Simconian, in the person of Samuel North, which event took place in Omaha on April 7th. Mr. North was about sixty years of age and succumbed to paralysis.

His father was for many years tenant of what was then the Campbell farm, just east of the town. He attended Simcoe schools, and when he started to work it was in the office of Mr. Joseph Brook.

In 1866 he went to the United States, [and] secured a situation with the Illinois Central Railway. In its employ he rose to be a district passenger agent, with headquarters at Omaha. He became an exceedingly widely known railway man and very popular.

A widow and two daughters survive. A sister is
Dr. Charlotte North of Toronto.

The funeral service was very impressive....
Relatives were present from Lincoln, Neb., Spencer, Ia., Beatrice, Neb., Toronto, and Davenport, Ia.
