Mrs.
Minnie Millen, who resides on a farm between Cultus and Clear Creek,
will celebrate her 93rd birth next Tuesday.
She was born at
McCall Mills, at the corner of the Forestry Farm on January 13, 1862, a
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gamble.
On February 3,
1886, she married Omar [sic] Millen, who passed away in 1939.
They were married at Clear Creek parsonage by Rev. Mr. Treadwell.
To
this union were born three children; Albert, who lives on a farm near
Port Rowan, Roy, who resides on the farm with his mother, and Bruce of
Walsingham, who died February 15, 1953.
When
Mrs. Millen was married she went to live on the Raymond farm on the
townline between third and fourth concessions of Walsingham, later
moving to the Hutchinson farm at Cultus, then to the farm where she
still resides which is known as the old Gamble homestead. Here she has
lived for 56 years.
Mrs.
Millen has one brother, George Gamble of Port Dover.
She
enjoys the best of health and keeps herself occupied by knitting socks
and mitts for her grandchildren, of who there are 18; also a number of
great-grandchildren, who she gets around to visit quite frequently.
