A resident of
Simcoe for the past 35 years, George White passed away in Norfolk
General Hospital late Saturday evening, following several years of ill
health, in his 70th year.
Mr. White was
born in England on 9 Aug 1875, coming
to Canada and taking up residence in Simcoe in 1911.
Enlisting with
the 133rd Battalion in 1914, he went overseas and was gassed,
receiving his honorable discharge in 1918 and returning to Simcoe.
His wife Annie
Elizabeth White, predeceased him about 10 years ago.
All of his three
sons are serving in His Majesty's Forces. Bugler Ronald White is
stationed at No. 25 C.I.B.T.C., Simcoe; Harry has been overseas for
more than five years and is now on his way home from Germany; and
Albert is serving at the East Coast.
Also surviving
are five daughters, Mr. [sic] Fred Hickman, Mrs. Robert Clark
and Mrs. Fred Haskett,
all of Simcoe, Mrs. Thomas Clark of Toronto, and
Mrs. William Hamilton of Hamilton.
Mr. White is
resting at the McGregor Funeral Home until Tuesday where the service
will be held their at 2.30 o'clock. Rev C. C. W. Mixer, rector of
Trinity Anglican Church, will have charge of the service. Interment
will be made in Oakwood Cemetery.
