Thursday, 18 Jan 1917, Mrs. Catherine Wells, relict of the late W. W. Wells, passed peacefully away at her home on St. Patrick Street, in this village, aged 73 years. Deceased (nee Stewart) was born in King Township, York County, where she and Mr. Wells were united.

Some 35 years ago they moved to Port Dover and after a time settled on a farm on the lake shore, where they resided for several years, after which they returned to the Port.

The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon last, Rev. J. Robertson officiating, after which interment was made in Port Dover Cemetery.

Mrs. Wells was predeceased by her husband and three daughters, Hannah, Erie and Melina. Deceased is survived by seven sorrowing children:
Stewart Walter Wells of Woodhouse Township,
G. Edward Wells of Windsor,
William J. Wells of Blenheim, and
John P. Wells of Orillia, now Sergeant in the 122nd Battalion, and Mrs. Perry Leach of Swanson, Sask.,
Mrs. M. Gilbert of Detroit, and Mrs. Burton Ford of Blenheim.

All the members of this large and scattered family were home for the sad occasion, many of whom had not seen their mother for years.*

Mrs. Wells had a multitude of friends, all of whom regret keenly her removal from their midst.

* The last sentence but one in Mrs. W. W. Wells' obituary in last week's Reformer should have read as follows: "All the members of his large and scattered family were home for the sad occasion, one of whom, Mrs. Leach, who had not seen her mother for years, having come from her western home to participate in the family reunion which took place Christmas Day."
