A lightly edited partial transcription of the Local Items of Interest column on page 7 of the 
19 Dec 1918 issue of Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Toronto last week saw the death of Alderman William Weir at his residence, High Park Avenue, after a prolonged illness, which kept him practically confined to his home since last July.

He was born in this county in 1860, his father being Alexander Weir, who lived just west of Nixon.

Deceased graduated from the Simcoe High School, and lived in the township of Charlotteville for a number of years, serving on the township council for several years.

Going to Toronto he became connected with the insurance and real estate business. He was elected to the council in 1916, defeated in 1917, and elected again this year.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son, who is in the naval service at Halifax.

Mr. Weir was identified with the Masons and the Orangemen.

His funeral was attended by the members of the Toronto City Council as a body.
