On Sunday the remains of the late Sidney Swanton, aged 63 years, were brought here from Toronto General Hospital, where, after undergoing an unsuccessful operation for cancer on Thursday, the deceased died on Saturday.

The late Mr. Swanton had been on the decline for onwards of six months, but his sudden death came as a great shock to the community.

The late Mr. Swanton was a prosperous farmer and a highly respected citizen of the township of Townsend. 
He is survived by a sorrowing widow, 
one son, Clarence of St. Thomas, 
one daughter, Mrs. (Dr.) Clendon Smith of Toronto, 
one brother, William of Townsend, and three sisters: Mrs. Robt. Clark of London, Mrs. Gray of Toronto, and Mrs. Blackmore of Tillsonburg.
