Died in Bay City

Bay City Tribune -- Arthur L. Sovereign, one of the best known contractors in Bay City, died at his home at 2175 Third Street at 2 o'clock this morning.

Mr. Sovereign had been ailing from internal troubles for about a year and had decided that an operation was necessary.

At the hospital, after an incision was made, surgeons concluded that owing to the malignancy of the ailment,
a removal of the affected parts would bring only a temporary relief.

From that time, Mr. Sovereign had been a patient sufferer, waiting for the end.

Mr. Sovereign came to Bay City when a young man and took a prominent part in the building operations that were carried on here.

He served as a member of the board of public works, by appointment of the council.

He had always been a busy, industrious man until failing health.

Mr. Sovereign was a member of the Joppa lodge
A.F. & A.M. Bay City Consistory, Blanchard chapter R.A.M. He was an active member of Bay City lodge of Elk.

Mr. Sovereign was born 27 May 1856 in Norfolk county, Ontario, and came to Bay City 17 Mar 1880.

He was married to Miss Josephine Hayes of Detroit,
who died 10 Aug 1906. His second marriage was
to Lulu Woodley Lang [sic] of Buffalo, N.Y., 8 May 1907.

Joppa lodge will conduct the funeral.
