Death of John G. Sewell

Mr. John G. Sewell died at his home in this place on Saturday evening, after an illness of about six months.
He had been confined to his bed for two or three weeks and suffered to a considerable extent.

Mr. Sewell was born in Essex, England, and came to this country when a lad of 19, about 60 years ago.

He first lived with Mr. Cotton, father of James and Allen Cotton, at Burford. He afterwards lived on the farm opposite the Villa Nova cheese factory and then moved to Hartford, where he lived for a number of years. He came from Hartford to Waterford and had lived here 23 years.

His first wife was Jane Charters, who died a few years after they moved to Waterford. About 15 years ago he married Kate Clark, who survives him. An only son, George, is also left to mourn his departure.

Being in receipt of a considerable income Mr. Sewell
was able to enjoy his retired life to the fullest extent.
He was of a quiet unassuming deposition and made
many friends.

He served most capably for some years on the Village Council.

The funeral was held from his late residence on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. Caldwell, assisted by Revs. J. B. Moore and E. R. Fitch. Interment took place in Greenwood cemetery.
