Will Mark His 96th Birthday

Walter Scott, well-known Colborne resident, will quietly celebrate his 96th birthday on Friday, 7 Dec. He is enjoying fine health and is still able to do considerable work about the home, including the care of his flower and vegetable gardens.

A native of England, son of the late George Scott and Hannah Brown, Mr. Scott came to  this district with his family at the age of 18.

In 1886, at the home of the bride's parents in Townsend, he was wed to Mary Woolley.

Following their marriage they went to Detroit. For many years he was an employee of the American Car Foundry, both in Detroit and Jeffersonville, Indiana.

While in Detroit his wife passed away in 1912 and two years later he married the former Craig Nickerson.

Mr. Scott retired in 1932 and they came back to Colborne. He is a member of Old Windham United Church and a Mason.

Mr. Scott has one daughter, Mrs. Grace Putnam of Colborne; two grandchildren, Mrs. Kendall Reeker of Lynn Valley and Donald Putnam of Glendora, California, and eleven great-grandchildren. A son, Charles, died in infancy. Mr. Scott has two sisters living, Mrs. Lily Kenny of Dauphin, Man., who visited him recently, and Mrs. Belle Thoroughgood of [Wa........].
