A lightly edited transcription of a item in the Items of Interest column on page 12 of the 10 Oct 1918 issue of Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

A former resident of Simcoe, in the person of Mr. H. Webster Pursel of Leamington, has died at a comparatively early age, after an illness of only a few hours.

For some little time Mr. Pursel, who was in his 59th year, had not been feeling quite well, and on Sunday he suffered a stroke. Death ensued the following day, before his daughter, Miss Mildred Pursel, a nurse in New York City, could reach his bedside.

Deceased was twice married, first to
Miss Bessie McLeod of Woodstock,
who died many years ago, and then to
Miss Mary Horton, who survives.

He is also mourned by his sisters,
Mrs. Gertrude Sovereen,
Mrs. E. R. Matthews, both of Simcoe,
and Mrs. Edward [sic] Widner of Toronto.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at
3 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, thence to Oakwood Cemetery
for interment. The Masonic fraternity will have charge of the services.

Mr. Pursel was for a long time the proprietor of various hotels in Simcoe and other towns, but more recently had been conducting a picture house in Leamington.
