New County Treasurer

County Council has appointed Mr. Jonathan Porter to succeed the late Roger Crysler as country treasurer.

The motion to appoint him was presented by Messrs. McSloy and Duncombe, as passed unanimously. The choice has been favorably received and it is the general expression that the county will be well served.

Mr. Porter was born at Rockford in Townsend Township and found his way into the legal profession via that of teaching. He has been a resident of Simcoe and a
member of the firm of Kelly & Porter since 1894.

He is a Past Chief Ranger of the Independent Order of Foresters, and an  ex-chairman of the Simcoe Board
of Education.

He plays golf, and used to play lacrosse; is chairman of the house committee of the country club, and when considerably younger than he is now, held the world's amateur record for flat jumping.

He is an Anglican and a Liberal.
