A lightly edited partial transcription of the Waterford column on page 2 of the 25 Apr 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Private George Penhall, who enlisted with the Canadian  A. M. C. at Hamilton in 1915, when he was only 18 years of age, and went overseas with that unit, is now home
on sick leave.

He transferred to the Mechanical Transport Corps in England before going to France, where he spent two years.. Becoming ill with gastritis he was invalided to England last fall and after undergoing treatment there
for about four months was returned to Canada.

He walked into the Waterford High School, of which he was a former student, on Friday last, and was given a rousing reception, and when going to take the train for Villa Nova, near where his parents reside, the High School pupils escorted him to the train, delighted to so honor one of their number who has don his bit for his King and Country.

George wears four stripes, one for each year of service.
