The Late Andrew Ostrander

There died at his home in Simcoe yesterday, 21 Feb 1917, after an illness of two weeks, Andrew Ostrander, in his 86th year. He was born at Eden, Bayham Township in 1829, being the fourth son of the late Andrew Ostrander.

In 1864 he married Rebecca Jane Vincent, and the following year settled on a farm at Guysboro, Houghton Township, and became on of the pioneers of that district. By conscientious industry, coupled with sterling qualities he won the respect of the entire community.

Four children blessed their union, two boys and two girls.

In 1904 his wife was laid to rest and six years later he married Jessie Nelson, who survives him. They came to Simcoe six years ago.

His four children are Asa of Hawtrey, Elmer of Courtland, Mrs. John Benn of Griffin's Corners, and Mrs. Henry Murphy of Lemans, Sask.

He is also survived by one brother, Charles, of Morley, Mich., who is the last of a family of nine sons and four daughters.

The funeral will take place from his son's residence, Courtland, on Friday, October [sic] 23rd, at one o'clock to the Methodist Church.
