A lightly edited partial transcription of the Silver Hill column on page 2 of the 25 Apr 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

We are sorry to relate the sudden death of Mrs. Neal Newman, which occurred at her home here on Tuesday after a short illness of four days' suffering from pleurisy.

Mrs. Newman was 32 years of age and had spent her whole life in this place, with the exception of four or five years, during which she lived at Belle Plain, Sask.

She leaves to mourn her loss a sorrowing husband and three daughters, namely,
Eva, aged 11 years, Thelma, aged 8 years, and Marion, aged [five] years.

Mrs. Newman was a general favorite and loved by all who knew her. [She] was an earnest S.S. and church worker, having been organist of the church for several years.

The funeral took place from [her] late residence on Friday last, service at
Silver Hill Church, thence to the Sipprell burying ground for interment. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Snider, pastor of this church. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved in their sad loss.
