mr. and mrs. wesley murtland married sixty years

On Sunday, 16 Oct 1932 Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Murtland, well known residents of this town, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, when about 50 guests were present. The day was an ideal one for the occasion.

The table decorations were pink roses and fern, centred with a four story wedding cake, made and iced by the bride of 60 years ago., who on Monday celebrated her 83th birthday, the groom being 84.

Five were present on this occassion who attended the original wedding, which was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Potts. Rev. Mr. Harrington, formerly pastor at Bloomsburg, officiated.

Mr. Murtland is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Murtland who lived in this community. Mrs. Murtland is the granddaughter of the late Sir Oliver Blake, a former M.P.

The bride and groom of 60 years ago were presented with a beautiful radio, which will be much enjoyed during the long winter evenings.
