A lightly edited partial transcription of the Windham Centre column on page 12 of the 10 Oct 1901 issue of the Waterford Star.

Windham Centre.

Our quiet village has been visited by the angel of death this past week, summoning home a highly respected old lady in the person of Mrs. D. Merritt.

She had been a great sufferer for a long time, but bore up with Christian fortitude.

A very large number attended the last services, which were conducted by Rev.
Mr. Sanderson in the Methodist church.

The remains were laid to rest in the village cemetery, that painful duty being performed by Messrs. O. Robertson,
R. Green, G. Bennett, W. Gray, I. Milmine and L. Silverthorne.

The many friends of Mr. Merritt and family will extend their sympathies to them in this, their greatest affliction.
