Mrs.
Kent, who fell and sustained a fracture of one of her thighs
some two weeks ago, passed away about six o'clock last
Saturday evening.
Her funeral, which was
private, took place on Monday afternoon to Oakwood
Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. A. B. Farney, and the pall
bearers were: Mr. E. C. Jackson of Tillsonburg and Messrs. G. A. Curtis, H. S. Falls, J. D. Christie, T. R.
Slaght and D. R. Tisdale.
The late Mrs. Kent was
the last survivor of her generation.
She was born at Niagara,
some 80 years ago, being a daughter of
James and Janet
Wilson.
Her husband, Mr. S. Y.
Kent, who died a couple of years ago was a son of George Kent,
Esq., who built "Oak Lodge," latterly the residence
of Judge Robb, and was a very prominent figure in the early
life of the town. He owned approximately one half the area now
included in Simcoe's corporation limits.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Y.
Kent had two children. A son, Allen, died not a great while ago, at his home in
Duluth, Minn. A daughter, Mrs. Fred R. Allen of Vancouver, B.C., survives,
and is at present in Simcoe, having been summoned east when
her mother was injured.

Comment: "Oak Lodge" was the private residence at
135 Union Street in Simcoe. It sat atop a small rise of land on the
north side of Union Street, stretching between Talbot and Head
Streets.
After Judge Robb it was owned by J. B. Jackson, then J.B.'s eldest
surviving son, W. G. Jackson, then W.G.'s brother, Dr. A. B.
Jackson. After Dr. Jackson's death in the early 1960s, the house was
torn down and replaced by what was at the time Simcoe's largest
apartment building. That building still stands and is called
"Oak Lodge."]
