A lightly edited partial transcription of the Port Rowan column on page 3 of the 8 Aug 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer.

In recording the death of Mrs. S. Smith of this village, which took place last week, the News contains the following:

On Wednesday evening, 31 Jul 1918, Mrs. Samuel Smith died at her home on Main Street after a severe illness.
She was Miss Annie Hutchinson, daughter of the late 
Alex Hutchinson, Esq., and was married to Mr. Samuel Smith in 1892.

She leaves three children, 
Lloyd of the customs department at Windsor, 
Mrs. Myrtle Smith, and Alex Smith. 
Her mother is still living.
Three brothers also survive: 
Robert Hutchinson, public school inspector at Whitby, 
Dr. Wm. Hutchinson of Hespeler, and 
James Hutchinson of Port Rowan.
Her sisters are: Mrs. Franklin of Dakota, 
Mrs. C. H. Pierce of Hespeler, 
Miss Della Hutchinson matron of Victoria Hospital 
in London, and Mrs. John S. Smith of Port Rowan.

The late Mrs. Smith was an active member of 
Neal Memorial Church, and took a great interest 
in the Sunday School, the Epworth League, and 
the Ladies' Aid of her church.

She will be greatly missed by her husband and children, and the whole community. She was under 50 years of age and was in the midst of a career of usefulness.
