Introduction | Source Documents | Other Sources | Photocopies | Back

A lightly edited partial transcript of the Port Rowan column on page 5 article of the 23 May 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hutchins have the greatest sympathy of the whole village upon the loss of
their son, Clare, who met death under such tragic circumstances at Lynden, where Mr. Hutchins is
section foreman for the G.T.R.

Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins lived here for a number of
years and the son attended our schools and had successfully passed his high school examination.

Clare was assisting his father to enable him to proceed further with his studies when the end came, in his
20th year, in the full vigor of his early manhood.

Mrs. Hutchins is a daughter of Ralph Rockafellow and with Mr. Hutchins, has large connections in this
village and vicinity.

The remains were brought here by rail on Monday and taken to the Free Methodist Church, where the service was held. Interment took place at Bayview Cemetery.
