A lightly edited partial transcription of the Port Rowan column on page 11 of the 14 Feb 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Charles M. Hands died from the effects of an internal cancer at his home in this village on Tuesday of this week, at the age of 68 years.

The deceased was an accomplished pianist, and came from London, Eng., when a young man. He settled in Brantford, where he formed a large musical class, and where he also met his faithful partner in life, Miss Elizabeth Richardson, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richardson of this village.

For a number of years immediately following their marriage they lived in the United States where Mr. Hands was engaged as salesman for some of the largest piano firms in America.

Upon the death of Mrs. Hands' parents they settled in Port Rowan.

Mr. Hands was very highly respected in the village, a friend to everybody and everybody's friend. Mrs. Hands will have the sympathy of the whole village in her sad and irreparable loss.

The funeral, conducted by the Rev. J. M. Smith, was held from the home on Friday. Interment took place in Bayview Cemetery.
