The Late Mrs. Gunton

An aged and respected resident of Simcoe, in the person of Eliza Jarvis, widow of Mr. John Russell Gunton, passed to the Great Beyond of Saturday evening after a short illness.

For some time past Mrs. Gunton had been suffering from the ills incidental to old age, but her final sickness was not of long duration.

Mrs. Gunton would have been 77 years of age had hshe lived until Tuesday, the day of her burial.

The funeral took place at 2 o'clock prayer being offered at her late home on Talbot Street, and the service proper was held in the Baptist Church, of which Mrs. Gunton had long been a member. Rev. H. C. Newcombe conducted the ceremony.

Mrs. Wm. Gunton of Baltimore rendered a solo in keeping with the sad occasion. Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery, where 16 years before, Mr. Gunton had been laid to rest.

Deceased leaves eight children:
Robert E. Gunton, police magistrate of Simcoe;
Rev. W. A. Gunton, an official of the Children's Aid Society in Toronto, now in Baltimore;
Walter Gunton of Port Dover;
Captain David D. Gunton, quartermaster of the 58th Battalion, now overseas;
Lewis Gunton of Woodhouse;
Mrs. E. A. Buchner (Nellie) of Hespeler;
Mrs. Schafer (Ruth) of Buffalo;
and Miss Lucy at home.

With the exception of Rev. W. A. Gunton and Captain D. D. Gunton, all the children were in attendance at the funeral.

Rev. A. J. Loveday and Mrs. Loveday of Inwood, the latter a granddaughter of Mrs. Gunton, were also present.

The bearers conveying the body of the aged lady to its last resting place were Messrs. Newton Challen, Manus Beaupre,
J. G. Fleming, Emerson Ramsey, Wm. Wark and A. W. Baldwin.
