The following is a partial transcription of the Port Rowan column on page 7 of the 28 Mar 1918 Simcoe Reformer.

After an illness of several months, Morris Fitzmorris died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. R. Hutchinson in this village last Sunday at the age of 82 years.

Mr. Fitzmorris was born in the city of Cork, Ireland, and came to Canada with his parents when a child. Upon the death of his mother in Hamilton, at the age of nine years
he found himself alone in the world.

He accompanied the late Mr. Ritchie of that city to Long Point to shoot wild ducks and lived here the remainder of his life.

He married Miss Sarah Thompson of Port Maitland, whose demise took place a few years. He leaves to mourn his loss two sons and two daughters: Thomas of Ingersoll and Chauncy of Port Clinton, Ohio, Mrs. W. Kyle of Walton, N.Y., and Mrs. D. H. Hutchinson of Port Rowan.

Few men who have [lived] here knew Long Point marsh better than did the deceased. He [acted] as guide to the late J. C. Lord [of] England, when on his annual duck shooting trip for 30 years. He was also chosen to guide Lord [Lansascar] when he was Governor-General, in a similar capacity.

His was a familiar figure in our village, upright and honest, a friend to everyone.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, service being held at the home. [...] children present from a distance were Thomas of Ingersoll and Mrs. Kyle of Walton, N.Y. Service was conducted by the Rev. J. [,] Smith. Interment took place in Bayview Cemetery.
