The Late Ruth Clithroe

The following taken from a newspaper published at Prosser, Washington, refers to the demise of a former resident of Norfolk:

Ruth E. Clithroe was born in St. Williams, Norfolk County, Canada, on 26 Aug 1858, and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Thomas Meadows, Wednesday morning,
20 Nov 1918, at 2.30, aged sity [sic] years.

Deceased spent the greater part of her life in Canada. In June 1902 she accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Meadows, with whom she had made her home the past 25 years, to Prosser, where she resided till the time of her death.

Though an invalid with rheumatism since her 18th birthday, she was always cheerful and her life as a Christian in the community proved a benediction to all who were privileged to know her.

A devoted and zealous worker for the Red Cross, during the past few months she had knit 29 sweaters, four pair of wristlets and pieced four quilts. Her 30th sweater was just half completed when the Father called her home.
