A lightly edited transcription of an item in the Waterford column on page 2 of the 12 Sep 1918 Simcoe Reformer.

 
The remains of the late E. G. Christie, aged 77 years, 
who died in St. Thomas, Friday, 6 Sep 1918, arrived 
here Sunday at 1.40 p.m. 

The funeral took place Monday at 2.30 p.m. from the residence of T. C. Savage.

The deceased was born in England, and came to this country 68 years ago.

In the course of time he carried on a carriage trimming business in Waterford and was later on engaged in the hardware business.

During late years, he spent some time in Saginaw, Michigan, and for the past seven years or so lived 
in Seattle, Washington.

In June he was feeling very poorly and came to 
St. Thomas. 

He is survived by a widow and five daughters: 
Mrs. W. G. Rupp and Mrs. J. Campbell of St. Thomas, Mrs. W. Gardner of Waterford, and 
Miss Mary Christie of London, and two sons, 
Alex and Edmund of Seattle, Washington. He has also one brother living, Mr. James Christie of Brantford.

To these and other sorrowing relatives the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends is extended.

The funeral was conducted by the Rev. E. R. Fitch, assisted by Rev. J. B. Moore, and also by the officers 
of Wilson Lodge No. 112, A.F. and A.M., of which the deceased was one of the oldest members.

Interment took place in Greenwood Cemetery.
