A lightly edited partial transcript of the Port Dover column from page 7 of the 28 Feb 1918
Simcoe Reformer
newspaper.

Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, a prominent Grand Rapids surgeon, on the medical enlisted reserve of the U.S. Army since last November, has received orders to report for active service at Fort Riley, Kansas, 23 Jan 1918.

Dr. Chamberlain spent 20 years in the drug business and five years as a physician in Grand Rapids. He has had special surgical training in surgery under master surgeons in Germany, France, Belgium and Holland.

"Lou" used to spend his vacations with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hoffman, here, and used to travel by bike from Grand Rapids to Port Dover and back, and once as a little incident on the way back, took in a "century run" which was being held by the Canadian Wheelman's Association, to , if we remember rightly, Sarnia.
