The following is a partial transcript of Vittoria column on page 8 of 11 Apr 1918 Simcoe Reformer.

At one time last Saturday afternoon it was thought the east section of the village would be destroyed by fire, when the house of
J. E. Butler caught fire, from which it spread to his garage, and the barns of
Mrs. Maria Brown and E. Thompson, and also to the latter's chicken coop.

In a very short time a large crowd had assembled and worked hard to save the
other buildings around.

The Simcoe fire department was called and three men responded, but the fire was under control by the time they arrived.

A regrettable incident was the fall from the roof of one of the buildings by C. C. Wilson, but we hope no serious result will follow.
