Death of Walter McKerlie

It becomes our duty to record the death or another old resident of Townsend in the person of Mr. Walter McKerlie who passed away on Sunday.

Mr. McKerlie was born in Wentworth County seventy-three years ago but has lived in Townsend for the past fifty-four year where he was widely known as a man of sterling qualities.

He was a faithful member of the Round Plains Methodist church. Mr. McKerlie suffered from heart trouble and for six weeks has been very ill. Dropsy set in and on Sunday last, death released him from suffering.

His wife predeceased him by some nine years. He leaves to mourn, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Joseph K. McMichael, Mrs. Calvin McMichael, Mr. Alex. McKerlie of Hamilton, and Mr. Wm. McKerlie of Townsend, also two sons and a daughter, John and William and Mrs. H. Bartholomew.

The funeral took place from the residence of Mr. Henry Bartholomew on Wednesday afternoon to the Round Plains cemetery.
