Mrs. Vernon McDonald
Estimable Middleton Woman passes away
at an Untimely Age

The death of Mrs. Vernon McDonald of Goshen, one of our most highly respected citizens, occurred at the family residence on Saturday, March 4th, after a lingering illness of several months.

Mrs. McDonald was born 35 years ago near Clear Creek, Norfolk County, and was one of nine children of the late Jurd Fuller, who died 25 years ago, Mrs. Fuller predeceasing him one year.

The rest of the children still survive her: Douglas of Nebraska; Edward of Dunnville; James of West Lorne; Lemmuel of Cayuga; Mrs. A. W. Robertson and Mrs. Ira Mabee of Aylmer; Mrs. G. B. Ryan of Courtland, and Mrs. Frank McDonald of Windsor.

Mrs. McDonald's girlhood days were spent at home and her education was by no means neglected. She was married 14 years ago to Vernon McDonald of Middleton Township, Goshen, where she resided till death. Four children blessed their union and are still living.

Her health generally speaking, was good until six years ago when she had some lung trouble, but seemed to recover from that and was in fairly good health until about a year ago, when she was again stricken with lung trouble, which caused her death.

All through her illness she bore her suffering with great fortitude and was conscious till the last. Her husband and relatives watched over her with tenderest solicitude and devotion, hoping that a change would come, but all that loving hearts could prompt or hands do was without avail.

Mrs. McDonald was a woman of fine character, a devoted wife and mother, and a kind neighbor.

The funeral was held Monday, March 6th, the service being in the Goshen church, and was ably conducted by Rev. H. D. Moore of Eden, after which interment was made in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.

The pall-bearers were O. D. Oatman, R. W. Dick, B. Turnbull, L. W. Shepherd.

The casket was heavily laden with floral offerings, among them being a pillow from the husband and family, a broken circle from the sisters, sprays from the Ladies Institute, school trustees, and many more from relatives and friends.

Those from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. T. B. McDonald of Detroit, Mrs. Wm. Mackay of Burgessville, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Battersby,
D. Robertson of Brownsville, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ronson of Corinth, Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Fuller and Mrs. Wm. Hare of Aylmer,
Mrs. Merritt Moore of Springfield, and Mr. and Mrs. D. W. White of Courtland.

The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
