Late Nathaniel E. Low
Came of a Distinguished Irish Military Family

Nathaniel E. Low, O.P.L.S., who died at Sarnia, in his 87th year, came with his brother, the late Col. Low of the 40th Regiment to Nanticoke county of Haldimand in 1852, where he followed his profession for many years. He moved to Wiarton about 1880. 

His wife, a daughter of the late Lt.-Col. Pritchard, of the 58th Regiment, died in 1885.

Deceased was a descendant of an Irish and a military family, his father having been at Waterloo. His mother was a daughter of Major Abbott, 50th Regiment, and Governor of Launceaton and Hohert, Tasmania.

His grandfather, Capt. Wm. Low of Lowville Co., Galway, served in the 67th Regiment until his marriage with the Hon. Sophia Hamilton, daughter of Richard, fourth Viscount Royce. 

A brother, Lieut. Hamilton Low entered the 3rd West Indian Regiment and died at Lagos, west coast of Africa, in 1864. Two cousins and two uncles also served in the British Army and Navy in India.

He leaves, besides his only daughter in Sarnia, a sister in Paris, France, one brother in Port Dover, and a half brother in Vancouver, B.C.
