A very pleasing event took place yesterday (Wednesday, June 6th) morning
in St. John's Church, being the marriage of Miss Frances VanSittart, only
daughter of Mr. G. J. VanSittart, solicitor, to Mr. L. B. C. Livingstone,
son of Mr. W. W. Livingstone, two of Tilsonburg's most popular young
people.
The happy event was witnessed by a large number
of relatives and friends, and the ceremony was performed by the rector,
Rev. E. W. Hughes. The Bride was given away by her father, and was
becomingly attired in a handsome traveling costume of gray cloth and
feather boa and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of white roses. The
Bridesmaid, Miss Bessie Evans, of London, wore a gown of pink organdie
trimmed with black velvet and hat to match, and carried pink roses and
preceded the bride up the aisle, to the strains of the wedding march,
played by Mr. Wilson. The groom was supported by his brother, Mr. Douglas
Livingstone. The church as pettily decorated with snowballs, etc.
Immediately after the ceremony the
happy couple
left by the Wabash express for Detroit and other points west, and on their
return will reside in the house at the corner of Brock street and Tilson
avenue. They were given a grand send-off at the church and station, the
proverbial rice and old shoes being quite in evidence. Fire crackers and
torpedoes were prominent features at the station. There were a number of
old shoes fastened to the carriage by the young ladies of the party, all
joining to make their departure a memorable one, as both Mr. and Mrs.
Livingstone are very much respected and widely known. Among the guests
from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Jackson, of Simcoe; Mr. and Mrs. D. Gibson, of Brantford.
