George L. Leedham

Port Rowan: The death of George L. Leedham, Port Rowan, occurred in Hamilton General Hospital on Monday night, following a recent operation.

Deceased was in his 80th year and was born in Charlotteville Township, the son of the late Thomas Leedham and Charlotte Mary Ferris, who came to this country from England.

He married Sarah Bulmer of Charlotteville and settled on a farm in South Walsingham, where his only son, Ernest S. Leedham, was born. They came to Port Rowan in 1906 where, shortly after, his first wife predeceased him.

He was in the hardware business and also a builder and contractor and was Inspector of Game and Fisheries for 10 years. He was interested in public affairs and served on the village council at various times. Mr. Leedham took an active part in the Neal Memorial United Church, of which he was a member, elder and trustee for years.

He married Mrs. Lillian Fick, formerly Lillian Westover, of Port Rowan, more than 30 years ago. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son E. S. Leedham, Port Rowan, and adopted daughter, Mrs. George Abbott of Toronto, one brother, Thomas Leedham of Forestville; and one sister, Mrs. Coville Johnson, Port Rowan.

Funeral services are being held from Neal Memorial United Church at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon with Rev. Homer Brown officiating. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery, Forestville.
