Young
Merchant Died Saturday
Harry Alfred Lea
passed away
after illness of several months
The business community and
social circles late Saturday night received with profound regret the
announcement that Harry Lea died at ten-thirty that evening.
Many of his intimate friends
have been for some weeks anxious for his welfare, but the public
generally did no[t] realize that a capable and popular young business
man was about to be taken from them.
Several months ago deceased was
forced to leave the store, and although there were times when he seemed
better, he never was again able to resume his duties and gradually
slipped down to where he patiently waited the end.
The late Harry Alfred Lea was in
his 32nd year, and was very widely known in Simcoe, where he had an
enviable standing among the business men and was very popular in social
and fraternal circles.
He was a member of Simcoe Lodge
No.101, Independent Order of Oddfellows, under whose auspices the
funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock.
Services were conducted at the
family residence, Norfolk street, by Rev. A. B. Farney, where a large
crowd gathered to pay their last respect to the deceased.
Interment was made in Oakwood
Cemetery. The pall-bearers were: Dr. A. C. Burt, Messrs. Bruce Johnson,
Murray Hamilton, Wyatt Goodlet, George Knight and Jos. W. McNally.
Harry was the eldest son of the
late Geo. W. and Mrs.. Lea, and surviving him are his mother, three
brothers and five sisters. The brothers are: Fred D. and Harvey C. of
Toronto, and Geo. H., of Simcoe. The sisters all reside in Simcoe, and
are: Mrs. Guy Marston (Mabel), Mrs. Frank Stevenson (Mamie), Mrs. Harry
J. Brook (Mattie) and Misses Vina and Jessie, at home.
