Col. George B. Killmaster
Late United States Consul at Port Rowan, Ont.

Colonel and Mrs. George B. Killmaster were in town last week for a couple of days bidding friends good-bye. They left Simcoe for Toronto, from which city they started on their long journey to Col. Killmaster's new post of duty at Newcastle, New South Wales. They expect to sail from Vancouver, B.C., on March 17th, per the C.P.R. steamer "Mosna."

Colonel Killmaster is a son of the late Benjamin Killmaster, Esq., one of the most prominent citizens of Norfolk of the last generation. He was born in Port Rowan, but early in life moved to Michigan, where he became an American citizen and took an active interest in political affairs, and served as chairman of the Democratic Committee for his county.

He was nominated by President Cleveland to be U.S. consul at Port Rowan, his native place. This post he has continued to fill until promoted recently by President Roosevelt to the much more important and lucrative consulate at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Col. and Mrs. Killmaster leave a host of friends in Norfolk and elsewhere in Canada, who will watch his further career with interest and with great satisfaction should he continue in the service of his adopted country, as he undoubtedly will. There is room at the top for men of George B. Killmaster's capacity.
