Greenbush,
March 20 -- The funeral of the late Thomas Kerr took place Friday
afternoon, leaving his residence at one o'clock to Greenbush church.
The service was conducted by
Rev. Thos. Meredith, who took for his test St. John xiv.: 1,2. The
church was draped for the occasion, and a large number of friends were
present, showing in what high esteem the departed was held, and to pay
their last tribute of respect to their old friend and neighbor.
Mr. Kerr was a life-long
resident of Greenbush, as he was born only a short distance from where
he resided. He took an active part in all church work, and especially
the singing, as he was choir leader for a great many years.
In politics he was a staunch
supporter of the Conservative party, and also took a great interest in
municipal affairs.
He was always ready to help in
times of trouble and his old friends can hardly realize that they have
lost their cheery associate, but his memory will long remain
pleasantly in the minds of a wide circle of friends.
In his own home he was a most
devoted husband and a very indulgent father. General and heartfelt
sympathy goes out to the bereaved family in their sadness and
misfortune.
The friends who attended the
funeral from a distance were Rev. J. Kerr, Dorcester; Mrs. Alex
Wilson, Greenway; Mr. and Mrs. John Cope, Fenton Falls; William Kerr,
Ottawa; L. R. Kerr, Brockville; Chas. Kerr and family, Hammond Kerr,
Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. George Kerr, Chatley Locks; Joe Kerr, Jasper.
The body was placed in the
vault, and will be interred in Brockville cemetery. The pall-bearers
were Messrs. George Olds, William Tackaberry, Jas. Hicks, Norton Olds,
David Johnson and William Connell. -- Brockville Times.
