Mr. George Johnson, who has been suffering for several weeks from an injury which he had received in July, and which developed into gangrene, and also from dropsy, passed peacefully away at his late home, Evergreen Farm, Saturday evening, 4th inst, and was interred in Zion cemetery on Monday afternoon, 6th inst.

Deceased was born in Saltfleet township, Wentworth County, on Feb. 6th, 1838, was the third son of the late Gilbert Johnson and came to Townsend, Norfolk County, in 1870.

Early in life he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined the Methodist church at Tweedside. He was a Sabbath School teacher and steward in the church and later joined the Wilsonville church, of which he was a consistent member, and during his illness made inquiries of his pastor, Rev. A. Springer, how the church was prospering.

Deceased was a dutiful son, a loving brother and a kind neighbor. With a patience and peace rarely if ever surpassed, he bore his suffering without a murmur.

He leaves to mourn his demise three brothers, Mr. A., of Boston, T. Stewart of Tweedside, Gilbert Henry of Daytona, Fla., five sisters, Mrs. N. J. Owen of Townsend, Mrs. A. G. McCrimmon of Windham, Mrs. M. H. Webster of Westfield, N.Y., Mrs. S. Wilcox of Burford, and Miss Z. A., at the home.

Absent he is indeed to the outer eye but present yet to the inner sight.
