Mr.
George Jackson, whose death is recorded in this issue of the Reformer, had
reached the four score years allotted to those of great strength -- at
least had he lived another month he would have been 80.
He had been
a resident of Simcoe for over half a century and had been prominently
identified with the progress of the place from a small village to a
prosperous town.
In partnership with his eldest brother, the late
Mr. John Jackson, he was interested in a large furniture and building
business, that at one time employed as high as fifty skilled mechanics and
was entrusted with the erection of many of the most substantial buildings
of this vicinity.
The extent of time covered by Mr. Jackson's
business activity may be judged from the fact that he was the architect of three successive Registry offices for Norfolk County.
