From
the Buffalo Courier we clip the following details of a wedding that was
celebrated in that city on Wednesday of last week:--
"The
first of the fall weddings occurred at the Church of the Ascension, when
Miss Adelaide Farthing was married to Mr.
George Edmund Jackson of Tonawanda. The alter and chancel were set
with a semi circle of palms, with here and there a bunch of gladiolus or a
cluster of mermets [sic].
The church was filled when the wedding party
came in, the ushers first, then maids, bride's attendant, and bride with
her brother-in-law, Mr. C. Lee Abell, who, with Mr. Jackson and his best
man, Mr. Charles Archibald, formed a group about the Rev. William
Hitchcock.
The ushers were Mr. Thomas Slocum, Mr. Frank Hathway, Dr.
Calkins and Dr. Leonard of Tonawanda, Mr. D. R. Tisdale of Simcoe, Ont.,

pin.
The maids, Miss Rosita Sherwood, Miss Carrie Riebeling, Miss
Frances Porter, Miss Maud Farthing, Miss Helen Abell of Silver Creek, Miss
McPherson of San Francisco, and the honorary maid, Miss [..telle] Miller,
wore beautiful gowns of striped white silk with a multitude of tiny
organdie raffles about the skirt and waist. Their bouquets were pink
roses excepting that of Miss Miller, which was a huge cluster of pink and
white flowers. The bride wore striped satin, most elegantly simple,
and a long tulle veil.
"A reception was held later at Mr. Abell's home, where the decorations were
profuse and beautiful. Supper was served in a tent on the lawn.
Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Warren F. Miller, Mr. and
Mrs. Beebe, Mr. and Mrs. Sweet, Miss Helen Lacy, Miss Annette Green, Mr.
and Mrs. Benjamin Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Abell, Mr. and Mrs. James Reid
Kimball, Miss Saidee Abell, Mr. Arthur Lockwood, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Vincent Hucker, the Misses Nairn, Mr. Ross Nairn, Mrs. John Weber, Miss
Elizabeth Heloise Weber, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Mr. Edward L. Davis, Miss
Amelie Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Alison Hill Morey, and Mr. and Mrs. Sirpet. From out of town were Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace of

Ont., Mr. and Mrs. McMamee of Montreal, Mr. John Farthing of Chicago, Mr.
and Mrs. [.]alcott of Silver Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey or Ogdensburg, and

and on their return they will make their home in Tonawanda."
