A
dispatch received here announced the death at Denver, Colo., of Robert
F. Hunter, formerly of this town. Mr. Hunter was injured recently by a
fall and it is supposed that his death was due to the accident,
although no particulars have been received. The remains will be taken
to Ingersoll for interment. Her was about 65 years of age.
The late Mr.
Hunter at one time lived in Simcoe and kept a dry goods store on Peel
street, where the Simcoe Plumbing and Heating Co. now are established.
Mr. Hunter was a very popular man in Simcoe at that time.

Since the above
was written we have received a copy of the Denver (Colo.) News, which
as the following to say of the accident:
"Robert F.
Hunter, real estate dealer and representative from Arapahoe County to
the ninth Colorado general assembly, died at St. Luke's hospital
yesterday after an operation for injuries he received in an accident
ten days ago. He was 64 years old.
"While
descending the cellar steps at his home, 124 Grant street, he missed a
step, narrowly escaping a fall headlong to the basement. The shock
severed the tendons in both knee caps. It was to restore the function
of his lower limbs that the operation was performed.
"Mr. Hunter
has been in the real estate business in Denver thirty years. He and
Mrs. Hunter came here in 1885. Two years prior to that time he had
made a trip to Colorado because of failing health, and was so well
pleased with the climate that he decided to make his home here.
"He was born
at Newcastle, Canada. His parents died when he was 12 years old. From
that time on he made his way through the world.
"In 1875 he
married Miss Jennie B. Oliver, eldest daughter of Adam Oliver, then
member of the Ontario parliament from South Oxford. He engaged in the
dry goods business in 1879 at Ingersoll, Ont., continuing until he cam
to Colorado. He saw great opportunities in real estate here and was
always an active worker for the growth of Denver.
"He was
regarded as one of the best posted men in the general history of this
city.
"Mr. Hunter
was president for several terms of the old Denver Real Estate and
Stock Exchange. He was a director of the Arapahoe Investment Co., and
for years was a prominent figure in politics.
"He is
survived by Mrs. Hunter. The body will be taken to Ingersoll for
interment."
