Mr. E. L. Hodgson
Succumbs
After rather a
lengthy period of ill-health, although only confined to his bed for a
week previous to demise, Mr. Edward Lawrence Hodgson died in Dr.
Hick's sanitarium at Pt. Dover, on Sunday, aged 44 years.
For some years
carrying on business in Chicago, he was obliged to close it up owing
to poor health. He returned to the home of his boyhood, and three
years ago, upon the death of his father, Mr. Robert Hodgson, succeeded
him in conducting a tailor shop.
A large number of
friends attended the funeral, Mr. Geo. H. Luscombe, and Mr. Hodgson's
five brothers-in-law, Col. Aitkinson of Simcoe, Jonathan Austin of
Woodhouse, J. G. Emery and James Moe of Toronto, and Robert Ostendorf
of Chicago, being pallbearers. Dr. Dey was the officiating clergyman.
Beside his widow,
formerly Miss Nellie Steele of this town, and a small daughter, he is
survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Robert Hodgson, and four sisters.
Much sympathy is felt by the numerous friends of the family in their
sad loss.
