E. J. Hobbs Dies of Painter Poison

Edwin J. Hobbs, aged 40 years, died at his home, 601 W. Lake St., Tuesday afternoon, March 18, following an illness of eight days from painters' poison. Mr. Hobbs had been in charge of the painting department of the Alpena Motor Car Co. plant for the past year, coming here from Erie, Pa., to accept the position. During his short residence in the city he made many warm friends.

Mr. Hobbs was born in Simcoe, Ont. Nine years ago he moved to Erie. He is survived by a widow and the children, Edna, age 9, and Edward, aged 3; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hobbs, Princeton, Ont., three sisters, Mrs. A. S. Wells, of [....eton], and the Misses Margaretta and Louise Hobbs, Detroit; two brothers, Walter, of Thornloe, New Ontario, and Foster, of North Bay. His sister, Miss Margaretta who is a nurse in the Arnold Home, arrived Tuesday evening to care for her brother, but he was dead before she arrived.

His mother and sisters, Mrs. A. H. Wells and Miss Louise, will arrive this evening to attend the funeral, which will be held from the family home on Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Rev. Dean Hastings officiating -- Alpena Evening News.
