DIED

HEATH -- At his own residence, Townsend, on the 13th inst., Mr. Frederick Heath, aged 85 years and 21 days.

Deceased has always lived within one and a half miles of his birth place. He was connected with one of the first families who came to the Township, and much privation was endured by them at the outset. His nativity was in a house constructed without boards, nails or shingles, with a blanket for the door. Not unfrequently the fare was in keeping with the dwellings.

At the age of 23 he was wedded to Miss Charity, daughter of the late Timothy and Mary Collver, whom he survived 13 years, and by whom he had four sons and two daughters -- all now living.

Mr. Heath and his much esteemed wife were hopefully converted when at the ages of 24 and 30, and united with the Regular Baptist Church, now known as the Bloomsburg Church, of which they remained consistent members until called by the Master to the inheritance above. For a long period of his membership Mr. H. was deacon of the Church, and was one of its valued advisors.

His life bore in a marked manner the type of stern integrity and great industry so characteristic of most of the first settlers of Townsend. One by one the golden sheaves are gathered in the great "Harvest Home."

The funeral services will be conducted today in the Bloomsburg Chapel by his pastor Rev. I. M. Chapman, assisted by Rev. A. Slaght.
