Mr. Hare
having decided on moving to Toronto for the purpose of engaging
in business for himself, his old friends and associates to
the number
of twenty-five assembled at the Commercial Hotel on Wednesday evening,
2nd inst., to give evidence of the regard and esteem they had for him
in the form of a farewell supper.
He entered Messrs. Green Bros. & Co.'s employ some three years
ago
for the purpose of learning the art of bookkeeping, and
during that
time had acquired sufficient knowledge as to have
gained the full
confidence of the firm.
Mr. A. B. Walker, of the firm Green Bross. & Co., was called to
the chair, to the right of whom sat the guest of the evening, and on
the left Mr. J. R. Kestell, under whose personal supervision the
arrangements were carried out. Mr. E. R. Long occupied the
vice-chair.
[Toasts
were made by] Messrs. E. Corlis and C. R. Smith...
Messrs. F. Hatch and D. Duncombe...
Messrs. W. McWhinney and J. R. Kestell... R. T. Randall...
Messrs. Russling and H. Bowlby... Mr. E. H. Long.
