Roy Ferris

A lifelong resident of Turkey Point, Roy Ferris died Thursday evening at his home there, folliwing a lengthy illness, in his 61st year.

Born at Turkey Point, deceased was a son of the late Charles Ferris and Mary M. Clemmens. He was educated at Normandale and for some time was employed by the Long Point Company at Port Rowan.

For 23 years he was an employee of the Turkey Point Club, for whom he was chief keeper, retiring two years ago.

Mr. Ferris was a member of Normandale United Church and of Vittoria Lodge A.F. and A.M., and Vittoria Chapter, O.E.S.

Besides his wife, the former Nina Mae Snook, whom he married at Vittoria 38 years ago, he is survived by one son, Donald of St. Williams, two daughters, Mrs. John Lewis (Bernice) of Turkey Point, and Mrs. Melvin Fletcher (Helen) of Port Dover, four brothers, Richard, Ralph and Lorne of Turkey Point and Earl of St. Williams, and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Tjart of Normandale, also seven grandchildren [their names omitted].

Mr. Ferris rested at the Walsh Funeral Home until Saturday morning, thence to the home of his son, Donald, St. Williams, where service was held on Sunday at 2,30 p.m. 

Rev. L. C. McRoberts of St. Williams United Church officiated and interment was in Normandale Cemetery.
