There has
come to The Reformer office a copy of the Junction City, Kansas Union of
a recent date containing the following reference to the death of a
resident of that place who was connected with a well known Simcoe
family:--
"Mrs.
Elizabeth Stake, one of Junction City's pioneer residents, passed away
last night after an illness of some weeks. Mrs. Stake was 94 years of
age, and was a pioneer Kansas woman. Always cheerful, and thoughtful of
the comfort of others, even in her extreme age, she won the friendship
of a large number of people, all of whom will regret to learn of her
death.
Elizabeth
Farrow was born in Cold Harbor, Yorkshire, England, on May 23, 1820. She
was married to Sidney McDonald in 1845 at Colborne, Ontario. She came to
Junction City in April 1860 and was married here to Charles Stake in
1871.
Mrs.
Stake is survived by four nieces and two nephews, as follows: Mrs.
Samuel Kikirk of Junction City, Mrs. Elizabeth Austin of Omaha, Mrs. N.
S. Gilbert of Parkersburg, W. Va., Miss Camilla Anderson of Simcoe,
Ontario, William Anderson of Detroit, Mich., and Wallace Anderson of
Simcoe, Ontario,
