Dr.
William J. Drennan, 76, of 3 Highview Dr., Simcoe,
well-known
veterinarian for many years, died today
at Norfolk General Hospital.
Born
at Alliston he was the son of the late John Drennan
and Charlotte
Furnnal.
For more than
40 years he was a veterinarian inspector with the Canada Department of
Agriculture.
He was an early member during the foundation of the
Kinsmen Club of Simcoe, past president and member for
30 years of the
Simcoe Lions Club; past president of the Norfolk Agricultural Society;
past president of the
Norfolk Humane Society; member of the Simcoe
Lawn Bowling Club; member and holder of a 50-year past master's jewel
of Norfolk Lodge No. 10 A.F. & A.N.;
member of Ezra Chapter 23
R.A.M; 25 year member
of the choir of St. James United Church.
He
served overseas during World War I with the 66th Battery; was the last
surviving member of the St. James Quartet; past member of the board of
stewards, and member of the board of trustees and of the session of
the church.
Surviving
are his wife, the former Ann Kathleen McKim, who he married at
Orangeville in 1922; sons
J. Clark, of Waterford; Dr. William G.
Drennan of Ottawa; daughter Mrs. Donald (Jane) McArthur of Brantford;
brothers George F. of Guelph; Joseph J. of Alliston;
Edward F. of
Toronto; sisters Mrs. Louis (Jessie) Monkman of Cookstown; Mrs. Leslie
(Mary) Harris of Alliston; and seven grandchildren. A daughter
Catherine died in 1944.
There
will be a Masonic service at the Baldock Funeral Home, at 8 p.m.,
Tuesday, a Lions service at 9 p.m.
There
will be a family service at 11 a.m. and public service at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, at St. James United Church.
Rev. W. George Leck will
officiate assisted by Rev.
W. A. Macaulay. Interment will be at
Oakwood Cemetery.
