An unedited transcription of a page 5 article from 7 Sep 1910 British Canadian newspaper.
The same obituary appeared on page 1 of the 8 Sep 1910 Waterford Star, which says it was reprinted from the Simcoe Reformer. The 1 Sep 1910 Simcoe Reformer's version closes
with an additional sentence: "The funeral took place to Oakwood Cemetery this afternoon."

The Late James Cutting

An old and highly esteemed resident of Norfolk passed away on Tuesday night [30 Aug 1910] in the person of Mr. James Cutting.

Mr. Cutting was born in Suffolk County, England, 18th October, 1825, and had consequently almost achieved a life of 85 years.

He was very fond of telling that as a boy he witnessed the coronation procession of Queen Victoria. He lived long enough to say that he had been a subject of five British Sovereigns.

In early life he learned the trade of printing, but when he came, a youth of eighteen to Canada, he abandoned this for the lumber business which remained his life's occupation. For a long period he was actively engaged in shipping all kinds of lumber from Port Ryerse.

Deceased removed to Simcoe some thirty-two years ago and was prominent in town affairs until laid aside through advancing years.

He was married at Waterford to Sophia Chart, sixty-two years ago and she survives him as his widow.

There also remain to inherit the memory of a good name six children -- two sons and four daughters -- Messrs. James H. and William R. Cutting of Simcoe; Mrs. G. W. W. Brown of Marquette; Mrs. Jas. L. Owen of Cleveland; Mrs. R. J. McKiee and Mrs. Jonathan Porter, of Simcoe.
