Capt. Hugh Cameron
Aged and Highly Respected Resident
of North Walsingham Passes

There died at his family residence at Langton on Monday an old and much respected resident, Capt. Hugh Cameron. For some weeks he had been ailing, but was in his bed only a little over a week. Though in his 87th year, this was his first illness, and he bore it with great fortitude.

He was born in the Island of Mull, Scotland. When only a boy he came to Canada and settled with his parents near Toronto. In early life he married Agnes Campbell of Argyllshire, Scotland, who pass away ten years before him. They were among the pioneers of Bruce County, making their first home near Chesley. Later with their family they moved to Clear Creek.

Nearly thirty years ago they came to Langton and made the home in which he died.

He leaves four sons and four daughters, three of
whom are in the Canadian West.

In religion he was a Presbyterian, for some years being an elder in Carholme Church, in politics he was a staunch Liberal.

The burial took place on Wednesday, when a short service was conducted at the house by Rev. Mr. Ross of Lynedoch, assisted by Rev. Mr. Johnston of Langton.

The remains were taken to Carholme Cemetery.

[Compiler's Comment: Carholme Cemetery is also called Knowles Cemetery]
