PORT DOVER

Died. -- In London, Ont. on Thursday, August 1, 1912, J. Allan Butler, aged 44 years. Deceased was born near this village, and was a resident here for several years prior to his removal to London, where his labors were rewarded by a gratifying financial success. 

In connection with his brother, S. Butler, he has closed the deal for the dry goods department of the Scofield store of this town, and was preparing to return to the Port, when he was stricken down in the prime of life. 

Deceased was a member of the A.O.U.W. and of St. John's Lodge, No 20, A. F. & A. M., London. The latter lodge had charge of the remains in London, while Erie Lodge, No. 149, A. F. & A. M., of this place, performed the usual Masonic ceremony at the funeral, which took place on Monday from the residence of his father-in-law, William Porritt.

His wife and young daughter, his aged mother, one sister, Mrs. H. Cook, of this place, three brothers, Lebbington of Detroit, Mich., Salas, of Port Dover, and William, of Hamilton, remain to regret the departure of the deceased.

Robert Morrison of Imlay City, Mich., a half-brother, John Aikens, principal of Owaaso Business College, Michigan; C. M. Porritt, and C. R. Stringer, of Niagara Falls, Ont., were in town on Monday for the purpose of attending the funeral of J. Allan Butler.
