Diamond Wedding Celebrated

Tillsonburg News.--Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Buchner celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, Friday 14 Jan 1927 at Courtland.

Childhood friends Mr. and Mrs. Elkanah Mudge of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. John Ronson of Corinth, Mr. and Mrs. Ben DeForest of Sringford (the later being Mr. Buchner's only living sister), and Mrs. Robert McQueen of Courtland joined them for lunch. (Mr. McQueen missed due to illness.)

Over 70 friends and relatives came and went all afternoon and evening, signing a guest book provided by their fourth son, Dr. Elkanah Buchner and his wife of Chicago, who could not attend. Eight of 10 living children attended, as did guests from Detroit, Akron, Ohio, Delhi, etc.

Mr. Buchner was born 16 Jan 1845 on lot 23 Middleton, where his grandfather settled in 1829. His father left him the west half of this lot, which he in turn gave to his third son. In 1906 he and his youngest son and daughter moved to lot 21 Courtland where he still resides.

Mrs. Buchner, nee Amelia Phillips, was born 20 Sep 1850 and has also been a life-long resident of Middleton. She was left a cripple by the 1913 Port Dover bridge collapse. They have 10 children living, five daughter, five sons.
